Unlike conventional textile manufacturing where colours are dyed later, reCharkha only works with the original colours of the recovered plastic itself; making each pattern so unique!

That means design decisions begin long before weaving starts! 

Every sorted strip becomes part of a much larger pattern.

Clean Plastic Becomes a New Raw Material

Once the plastic has been sorted, it is thoroughly cleaned.

Only after cleaning, is it cut into narrow strips using just a pair of scissors, suitable for further processing.

At this point, the material no longer resembles household waste! It begins to resemble a new raw material; one that is ready to be transformed rather than discarded.

This stage also creates significant employment opportunities for our rural women through washing, sun drying, manual cutting and preparing the material.

After spinning, the prepared material is handwoven into sheets that resemble fabric rather than discarded plastic.

The process typically takes two to three days from prepared material to finished product.
